Employed and Unemployed Labor Force aged 15-17 years
Labor force – persons, in the age determined for measurement of the population’s economic activity, who were employed or unemployed during the reference period (survey week).
Employed population (involved in economic activity) – persons, who during the reference period (survey week), were employed and performed work for at least one hour during the week, and were paid in cash or in-kind, working for profit or family income/gain; or were temporarily absent from a job; performed work assisting the family business.
Persons engaged in the production of goods for sale on one’s own subsidiary farm are also considered employed.
Unemployed per the definition of the International Labour Organization –are persons of age, included for measurement of the population’s economic activity, and who, during the reference period simultaneously satisfied the following three criteria: did not work (no gainful employment); were seeking employment during the last four weeks and before the survey week, using various methods, and were ready to start working during the survey week. Students, pensioners, and persons with disabilities are considered unemployed if they were looking for work and were ready to start working.
Unemployed, registered in the state population employment service agencies – persons of working age, without a job and salary (earned income), living on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, registered in state institutions of public employment agencies, and seeking a job and ready to start working.
Labor force participation rate – the share of the labor force out of the total population of the corresponding age group, measured as a percentage.
Employment rate for a specific age group – the share of the employed population out of the total population of a particular age group, calculated as a percentage.
Unemployment rate for the population of a specific age group – the share of unemployed persons out of the number of economically active members of the population (employed and unemployed) of the corresponding age group, calculated as a percentage.
