Juvenile Deliquency by Selected Types of Crimes
Criminality –a social and legal phenomenon that includes crimes committed in a specific territory during a certain period of time and is characterised by quantitative and qualitative indicators.
The Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounts under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan serves as the source of information on state legal statistics, and is responsible for the collection, processing, storage, aggregation, and maintenance of information on state legal statistics and managing special accounts on legal statistics subjects.
Number of registered crimes – number of identified and officially registered, socially dangerous actions, specified by criminal legislation.
Crimes are broken down into crimes of minor gravity, medium gravity, grave, and especially grave crimes based on the character and degree of social dangerousness.
Children who commit crimes – children and adolescents aged 14-18 years in criminal cases, officially registered by internal affairs bodies.
Convicted children – children and adolescents aged 14-18 years, who were declared guilty by the court.
Juvenile delinquency – all crimes committed by adolescents, at least 14 years of age, but not yet 18 years of age, at the time the crime was committed. .
Crime rate – the number of registered crimes in relation to a specific number (usually, 10 000) of the population within a given district, region, or country. In order to determine the prevalence rate, or calculate the number of crimes committed by minors, the total number of persons aged 14-17 years is used in the denominator.
Crime structure is determined by taking the percentage ratio (weight) of the number of individual types of crimes from the total number of recorded crimes. This data provides the opportunity to determine, for which crimes qualitative characteristics change.
