Distribution of Migrants Under the Age of 18 Years by Migration Flows
Sources of data on migration comprise statistical record cards on arrivals and departures, which are completed by the local departments of the migration police when registering or deregistering a permanent residence. The statistical record card on departure is filled-out only in the case of deregistration of persons leaving the Republic of Kazakhstan for permanent residence abroad. Information on internal outflows was produced on the basis of information contained in the statistical record cards on arrivals. District and city migration police send statistical record cards on arrival and departure to the district and city statistics offices, the Almaty and Astana migration police departments, and the latter send statistical record cards to the Almaty and Astana statistics departments.
Net migration or balance of migration reflects the difference between immigration into and emigration from the area during the year. It is calculated for various migration flows: internal and external migration for a specific territory and between urban and rural localities/areas. Indicator values can either be positive or negative.
